Creating Culture Change - St John (NSW)

Shaping corporate culture is a difficult process. How do leaders assess and govern culture? And even more challenging, how do they transform culture? Over the past few years we have seen the title shift of many “HR” managers to directors of “People & Culture”. But how exactly do leaders and HR managers influence and direct culture change?

This year, we recognise an organisation who was able to achieve positive change by successfully turning the cultural tide of their significant volunteer workforce. Winner of our “2019 Change Challenge - Enterprise Category” Award, St John Ambulance Australia (NSW) is a not-for-profit organisation consisting of 200 main staff and over 3500 volunteers, split into 80 divisions across all of NSW.

Presentations

From the whole Voice Project team, we would all like to thank everyone who attended our Change Challenge seminars. We hope you enjoyed hearing Sarah Lance (CEO, St John NSW) and Vanessa Lorford-Mills (GM of Performance & Culture, St John NSW) share their story of how they transformed their organisational culture to improve employee and volunteer engagement through a period of uncertainty and change. Download the presentation slides and watch the recording below.

A big congratulations to all our finalists of the 2019 Change Challenge Awards. It is always inspiring to hear about our clients’ incredible change journeys, and about all the hard work and dedication that has gone into making their work environments the best they can be for their employees. Each year a panel of judges selects from these amazing change programs, the most impressive and impactful. The winners of the 2019 Awards are:

We have also observed some incredibly close competition amongst our finalists, each driving amazing change programs that positively impact the everyday lives of their staff.
