Using surveys and workshops to identify and drive improvements in people practices and business performance.

This client organisation was looking for ways to professionalise their People & Culture practices, thereby improving employee engagement, culture and organisational performance as they continue to expand.

The first step involved getting feedback from staff on how they were performing on important practices and gauging employee engagement levels across the business. We worked with their People & Culture team and CEO to develop survey questions that were relevant and aligned to the organisation’s direction and goals. The engagement survey provided useful baseline measures and relevant external comparisons for them to move forward with confidence and clarity. As a follow-up, leadership 360 assessments were conducted for key leaders to help them get a comprehensive view on their leadership capability. Whilst they were high performing leaders on a range of management practices, the executive team were still keen to leverage on the survey insights and drive further improvements. With the support of People & Culture, we designed and delivered a two-day workshop that enabled us to deep dive into a number of priority areas (e.g. leadership, processes, recognition) and explore possible actions with people leaders. Suggested actions, both quick wins and longer-term actions, were summarised and discussed with the executive team. Some of the suggestions were turned into actions.

When we reassessed again in 12 months’ time, they were able to maintain high employee engagement and satisfaction whilst achieving significant improvement in staff perceptions of senior management. They will now continue their journey towards becoming a Voice Project’s “best workplace”.
